Position Title: Community Impact Programming Lead

Location: Pictou County, Nova Scotia
Position Type: Full-time, Contract to March 31, 2025 (with the possibility of extension)
Reports To: CEO
Salary range: $50,000 to $70,000

Organization Overview:
The Pictou County Partnership is a community impact organization tasked with driving economic development in Pictou County, and one of the province’s Regional Enterprise Networks. The Partnership initiates, leads, and contributes to sustainable economic growth in Pictou County by fostering a culture of collaboration, navigating organizations to the resources they need, and engaging in meaningful economic development projects. The Partnership is committed to empowering community impact organizations to thrive and make a meaningful difference in the region. Our goal is to equip these organizations with the necessary resources to enhance their capacity, ensuring sustainable operations and fostering greater community impact.


About you:
We are seeking an individual who is passionate about driving positive change in Pictou County and values the mission of empowering community impact organizations for sustainable and meaningful contributions to the community. You will be supporting the development of a critical new area of focus for the Partnership so will need to come with an entrepreneurial mindset and be a strategic thinker with excellent planning skills. You are a relationship builder who excels in building and maintaining relationships with community impact organizations, resource organizations, government departments, and private sector supporters. You have excellent research and organizational skills to be able to build and maintain a database of funding programs and match them with the needs of CIAs. With demonstrated successful grant writing experience, and understanding of funding processes and best practices you will be able to assist community impact organizations in developing compelling grant proposals. You understand the dynamics of social enterprises and co-operatives and will be an effective guide for organizations through the development of self-sustaining ventures for long-term viability. You have a commitment to working collaboratively, can adapt to changing circumstances and work independently and as part of the team. About the Position:
As the Community Impact Programming Lead, you will play a pivotal role in supporting strategic initiatives aimed at increasing funds accessed in the community, raising awareness of available funds, contributing to a strategy of sustainable revenue generation for out community impact sector and fostering collaboration among community organizations in Pictou County. The Community Impact Programming Lead will focus on connecting community impact organizations in Pictou County with funding opportunities, supporting them in successful grant applications, and assisting in the development of social enterprises. The primary focus is to strengthen the capacity of these organizations, enabling them to achieve long-term sustainability and maximize their positive influence on the community.


Key Responsibilities:
• Identify and establish connections with community impact organizations in Pictou County to assess
their needs, challenges, and opportunities with regard to establishing long term organizational
sustainability through accessing grant funds and/or creating a social enterprise or cooperative.
• Maintain and develop relationships with key resource organizations, government departments,
crown corporations, and private sector supporters.
• Provide targeted support to community impact organizations in navigating and accessing funding
opportunities.
• Assist in the development of compelling grant applications to secure financial resources.
• Develop and maintain a database of grants and funding opportunities.
• Provide expertise in developing self-sustaining ventures such as social enterprises and co-operatives
for long-term viability.
• Contribute to the development of online self-learning modules on the Partnership’s ELEVATE
Institute with a focus on developing courses which will enhance the participant’s knowledge of how
to find funding opportunities and best practices for structuring funding proposals, best practices of
managing community group funds, and increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion amongst
community groups.
• Administer designated office space for community groups to work collaboratively with the
Partnership team on funding applications and proposals.
• Develop and deliver training sessions or workshops to enhance the capacity of organizations in
grant writing, social enterprise development, and non-profit leadership.


Qualifications:
• Post Secondary education in a relevant field.
• Experience in community outreach, relationship-building, and project management.
• Strong understanding of the community impact sector and funding landscape.
• Knowledge of funding processes, grant proposal development, social enterprise development, and
non-profit leadership.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to sustainability, capacity building, and maximizing community impact.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Pictou County and its community dynamics is an asset.
